- 电偶腐蚀：当两种或更多不同的金属或合金在电解质中接触时，由于它们具有不同的电极电位，其中一种金属（较活泼的金属）作为阳极，另一种金属（较不活泼的金属）作为阴极。两个电极之间的电位差是加速腐蚀作用的驱动力，使阳极金属溶解到电解质中。这导致阳极处的金属腐蚀速度比正常情况下更快，而阴极处的腐蚀则被抑制。电解质和金属之间的电导路径是发生电偶腐蚀的必要条件。电解质提供了离子迁移的途径，使离子移动以防止否则会停止反应的电荷积聚。如果电解质只含有不容易还原的金属离子（如Na+、Ca2+、K+、Mg2+或Zn2+），则阴极反应是溶解的H+还原为H2或O2还原为OH−。
